The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) has rewarded Assistant Professor Barbora Hola with the prestigious Veni grant for researchers. This grant offers talented, upcoming researchers an opportunity to build up a career in science.
Vertical (in)consistency of international sentencing – case study of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Rwanda
Barbora Hola will compare sentencing of international crimes by international and national courts. She will analyze whether ‘the most responsible’ leaders, who are generally sentenced by international tribunals, are indeed ‘better off’ (as many assume) and sentenced to more lenient sentences than their followers tried by domestic courts. Furthermore, she will come up with possible remedies to harmonize sentencing of international crimes.
Veni grants are aimed at excellent researchers who have recently gained their PhD and are at the start of their academic career, but have already demonstrated a striking talent for doing scientific research. Veni is part of NWO’s Incentives Scheme.
